I could hear him coming. It was only moments before he would pass me. He sped up, as if he was a car passing me on the highway, then his speed slowed just enough for me to keep pace. I reached a small foot bridge and snapped out of my zone when I heard, “Are you two together?” I looked to my right and there was an older woman patiently awaiting my answer as her small dog pulled tightly on the canvas leash. Her face looked leathery and she was wearing a blue stocking cap that seemed to defy gravity as is sat on the top of her thin brown hair. I smiled at her and said, “Nope”, then continued on my way. I imagined her as the type of old lady who is always eavesdropping on her neighbors and asking her granddaughter if she has met that “special someone” yet.

This made me think, what type of old lady will I become? Will I spend my Saturday afternoons crimping paper and making scrapbooks? Will I spend hours in my garden pruning tomatoes? …and do tomatoes even require prunning…?Will I go on long morning walks with my husband of 30 years? Will I be a divorced bitter old hag who scares the daylight out of the neighborhood kids? Maybe once my career is behind me I will spend my last years traveling the world. I will purchase outrageous pieces of furniture in Italy and have them shipped to my little condo by the ocean. My grandchildren will always have large smiles on their faces when they come to visit, they would know me as the grandma who makes fart jokes and sneaks them candy and gifts. Maybe I will never grow up.

I spent a fair amount of time this weekend becoming acquainted with Sex in the City. I never really watched it much before, but I more than caught up this weekend. I am slightly concerned that I will start writing like Carrie, or rather, start writing like Carrie talks. Overall, I found it very entertaining and a tad bit depressing.

Last night I won at poker. Sure, we only played one hand and the only reason I won was because I continued betting regardless of how good my hand was. Then after my poker triumph, I proceeded to loose at blackjack. It was pretty exciting when I got myself down to seven chips—exactly enough to make a perfect flower pattern. Lets just say I’m glad we were not actually betting real money on that game.

I am glistening (that’s classy girl lingo for “sweaty”). It took me 45 minutes of pumping a tiny little air pump to get my new yoga exercise ball inflated. Although this would be considered an inconvenience for most products, it seems like a good sales point for a piece of exercise equipment. The marketing team behind this ball should really be taking advantage of this. Instead of saying it comes with an easy to use foot pump—they should point out the rigorous leg work out you’ll receive before you even begin to use the product.

My air pump induced sweat is not the only source of my glisten this evening. I recently switched to a new body wash, OLAY Radiance Ribbons. By “radiance” they mean “glitter”. I came out of the shower feeling like a twelve-year-old girl covered in glitter. The label boasts, “helps recover a more youthful glow”. Well folks, they were not kidding here. I feel more youthful than ever.

I just bought some new books. I am very excited about this! I also learned that one should never purchase a writing or grammar book that is not grammatically correct.

Good night

I am struggling just a little to get this site to look the way I want it to. It looks really good on my computer- in firefox… but no so good in safari.  So, I am playing with it on my spare time- which is very limited. However, stick with me- something very profound is bound to be written or uploaded in  the near future.
